The Bellevue Mall is one of Riyadh’s largest mixed-use project stretching over 90,000 sqm. It is set to be the premier entertainment, shopping and dining destinations and its estimated opening is Q1-2027.
The proposed design aims to create a multi-functional avenue with its own identity, generating a patterned, human-scale landscape experience. A one km landscape ribbon is introduced in this street mall and breathes linear dynamics in this highly urban context. Considering the long narrow shape of the plot as one of the main challenges to be addressed, the landscape design approach aims to create a central green stretch acting as the social spine of the project.
The social spine then is segmented into multiple human scale fragments that provides vibrant, dynamic/active and colorful public spaces together with a series of multi-functional kiosks, beaches and gathering landscape pockets. All the F&B’s allocated outdoor terraces are displayed and drawn into the central green stretch, freeing the adjacent spaces in front of the architectural facades and providing an unobstructed pedestrian circulation along the restaurants and retail shops.
The façade’s architectural lines are projected on the ground, creating both the hardscape and the softscape patterns. Even the shading structure is inspired by this pattern and strategically reproduces it throughout the project.
Connection is encouraged through a tram rail which takes centerstage in the street mall, allowing a proper circulation among all provided facilities.
In other terms, the ultimate aim is to create a safe pedestrian and family-oriented destination, enjoyable to all visitors.
